A message from the Village of Oak Brook President

President John Craig Dear Neighbors:

It is so nice to have the trees and flowers in full bloom and neighbors outside enjoying the beautiful weather. Summer lends itself to us so we may reconnect with our neighbors in an outdoor environment through picnics, walking paths and various community events.

The Village of Oak Brook is proud to be celebrating its rich heritage and traditions especially this year with our 50th Anniversary. The Village’s Taste of Oak Brook/ Independence Day celebration was a success and various events will continue through the year end. The Oak Brook Half-Marathon will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2008. This inaugural race commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Village of Oak Brook, and will combine the premier amenities of a major distance event with abundant charm and hospitality of the Village.

I would be remiss if I did not mention some of the annual events the Village offers such as our spectacular Wednesday luncheon buffets at our Bath & Tennis Clubhouse. This weekly event is open to the public May through November 19th and the ambiance lends itself to an enjoyable meal. Our annual polo matches are held every Sunday afternoon July 6th through September 14th at 1 pm & 3 pm. This year’s Autumn Festival, on September 21st, promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Oak Brook Golf Club, owned and operated by the Village of Oak Brook is open to the public. Amenities include an all-grass driving range, three putting and chipping greens, fully stocked pro shop and excellent dining facilities. The Oak Brook Public Library has a wonderful outdoor garden and ongoing activities for all ages. Come sit in our garden and read, relax or bring your laptop and enjoy our new high-speed wireless internet access, FREE!

For more information on all of the above events, banquet facilities, Village Board meetings or general Village information, please visit our web site at oak-brook.org.

The Village of Oak Brook offers so much more than we can possibly list. Our corporate residents continue to support our fine community, our fine dining restaurants and hotel establishments. In addition, numerous shopping advantages and recreational facilities truly make the Village of Oak Brook a premier community to live, work, stay and play.

A message from the Mayor of the City of Oakbrook Terrace

Mayor Thomas Mazaika When I ran for Mayor seven years ago, I ran on the principles that Oakbrook Terrace should continue to grow, but with an organized and uncompromised plan for development, a structured financial plan, a balanced budget, and a professional fulltime City Manager with expertise to ensure that our tax dollars are used wisely. I believed the City was in need of unity and stability with an accountable, responsible and open government; that all residents needed to be treated with respect and delivered services with uncompromising ethics.

The City Council and I have worked on these issues and I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved. We have created a decision-making environment that is cooperative and professional. We continue to strengthen our relationships with many organizations: the Greater Oakbrook Chamber of Commerce, DuPage Mayors and Managers, DuPage Visitors and Convention Bureau, County Board members, and last but not least, our neighboring communities of Oak Brook, Elmhurst, Lombard and Villa Park.

As my term of Mayor comes to an end, I feel enormous pride and great satisfaction on the job we have done. I still believe Oakbrook Terrace is a great place to live and work. I hope you enjoy the many amenities we have to offer.

The Honorable Thomas Mazaika
