Corporate Connection: Get Organized by George
Linette George, President
GetOrganizedbyGeorge.com

Linette Geoerge

Neighbors: What do you do?
LG: I provide work place productivity training featuring dozens of customized presentations on physical organizing, time management, e-mail management, conducting more effective meetings, and conquering paper overload for companies with 150+ employees. In addition to offering training courses for Chicago’s most recognized companies, I also provide custom, one-on-one consulting and organizing services.
Neighbors: Best part of your job?
LG: When a client hugs me and tells me, as a result of our work together, they feel relieved, less stressed, and better able to manage their workload. That is why I do what I do–it’s so gratifying!
Neighbors: What’s new?
LG: The downturn in the economy coupled with heavy workloads and staff reductions make for challenging times. My newest workshop “The Missing Link–How to follow through on your intentions and get things done!” teaches people how to cross things off their to-do lists–personally and professionally.
Neighbors: Most rewarding on the job experience?
LG: I helped a small business owner who felt hopelessly disorganized (no files, papers stored haphazardly in boxes, missing deadlines) get organized. Together we created systems and routines that he credits with allowing him to grow a successful business. The systems were customized so he was easily able to maintain them long term.
Neighbors: How did you choose this career?
LG: I wanted to be my own boss. Looking for a niche, I reached out to a friend who is a professional organizer. She invited me to attend a NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) meeting. The meeting was great. I knew I found what I wanted to do. I immediately started my own business (2003), and later became part of the inaugural class of Certified Professional Organizers®.
Neighbors: Most unique experience?
LG: I spent an afternoon picnicking at the beach with an engineering client while organizing his job site photos.
Neighbors: What are you reading?
LG: The last good book I read was Following Through by Levinson & Greider. My “Missing Link” workshop is based on this book.
Neighbors: What are you watching?
LG: My TV addictions are “Desperate Housewives” and anything on HGTV.
Neighbors: What are your hobbies and interests?
LG: I love travel and photography and I have countless photo albums. Music and singing have been a passion since grade school. I’m also devoted to running a green business; I weave environmentally-friendly practices into my consultations with clients.
